Getting energy smart one light bulb at a time

Frucor New Zealand is on the green path to being an energy efficient company as part of their bid to become more environmentally friendly.
In July of 2009 Frucor enlisted in the help of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), who, after an extensive audit, presented Frucor NZ with 17 projects to become more Energy Friendly.
Frucor’s Environmental Manager, Gareth Cartwright and Engineering Manager Ian Sydenham have been leading the quest to become an energy efficient company and so far there have been some fantastic initiatives introduced to help this happen.
This has included taking out unnecessary lighting (without hindering workplace safety), changing air conditioning controls to improve efficiency and putting insulation around hot water systems to hold in heat.
With these and a few other relatively easy changes around the business, Frucor is almost half way to its predicted potential energy savings for the year!
Moving forward, Gareth will be encouraging Frucor staff to become more energy conscious. This will include getting people to turn off lights and computers when they leave their office.
