A huge congratulations is due for the ten members of the Australian sales team who competed in the gruelling Great Adventure Challenge on Saturday the 22nd of October.

The challenge was set up to raise funds for the Starlight charity, and each team was expected to fundraise prior to the event.

Well fundraise they did, and through a range of events such as trivia nights and breakfasts at the Sydney office they managed to raise $6,000. Better yet Frucor pledged to match their fundraising efforts dollar for dollar, so the team were able to hand over a $12,000 cheque to the charity.

Team captain Deb Cooper says the support the team received from Frucor and the staff was amazing.

“Frucor really showed what it is about the whole way along, matching the funds, putting on the trivia night, giving us time to train and really showing support at every opportunity,” says Deb.

Fundraising was only one part however; the team were faced with a course that consisted of kayaking, biking, an ocean swim, a rock climb, running and one mystery challenge. All in all they covered over 50km of course!

Deb, says the team were nervous going in to the race but are very proud they completed it.

“The team were slightly apprehensive as we were unsure what to expect. We had definitely put in a lot of training sessions but we had no idea if it was enough or not,” says Deb.

The whole experience has been fantastic for the group who trained, fundraised and competed as One Team.

“There is definitely a stronger team feeling amongst the group. Going through an event like this definitely brings out something different in people than the office environment we find ourselves in every other day.

“It was great to see that as a team we pulled together and lifted through the tough times to get over the line.”
