Suntory Recovering after Earthquake
31 Mar 2011
Japan is still reeling from the earthquake and Tsunami that struck on Friday the 11th of March.
Frucor’s parent company Suntory is based in Japan with its head office in Tokyo. Fortunately all Suntory staff are now accounted for, however some of their families and friends are not. This is a very sad time for our Suntory colleagues and our thoughts are with them.
There is damage to some of the Suntory facilities and production sites and the team in Japan are working through how these issues as quickly as possible.
Suntory have donated NZ$5,000,000 to the relief fund for the earthquake and tsunami. They have also donated 1,000,000 bottles of mineral water to help those who are still without water.
Frucor has donated ¥5,000,000 to the Suntory Group staff donation fund and another ¥5,000,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Suntory was hugely supportive of Frucor and the Christchurch team after the February earthquake in New Zealand and the team at Frucor will do what we can for the Suntory team in the coming weeks.
